Okay, I’m in one of those strange moods again . . .
For some reason, when I was contemplating the subject of today’s FamilyFirst site, I just couldn’t get the image of a rubber chicken out of my head.
Yeah, I know, weird.
Anyhow, I started looking for an appropriate rubber chicken site. And, disappointingly, they are few and far between. But I stumbled onto one at an unlikely source: Utah’s Slice of Life. Here’s their mission:

Slice of Life is a non-profit project based at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. Its primary purpose is to encourage the development and sharing of educational multimedia applications and the integration of complementary teaching and learning technologies in health sciences and medical education.
Dry stuff, right?
Well, check out the page linked below, which describes the power of the Utah Rubber Chicken.
In 1993, they figured out the magical powers of the rubber chicken: Namely, that it would cast out the gremlins of mayhem and mischief that would threaten the integrity and performance of computers and multimedia programs, which were notoriously unreliable back then.
Today, each Slice of Life multimedia presentation is shipped with a rubber chicken in the box, to provide its magical protection on the trip through the shipping system.
Friends, I offer you today’s FamilyFirst pick, which pays due homage to that most magical of comedy props: the rubber chicken.
